U.S. patent monetization firm IP Edge has moved away from the high‑volume “nuisance” lawsuits for which it was criticised. After a 2022 federal court investigation examined its business model and referred some associated lawyers to ethics panels, the company has pivoted toward high‑value cases. To support these more sophisticated cases, IP Edge now uses a mix of insurance and litigation finance, allowing it to tap private equity, private credit and family offices that previously had little exposure to patent litigation. According to the firm, it is currently facilitating over US$40 million in patent financing and has structured more than US$120 million in insurance‑backed funding in the past year.
